What is a tariff?
A tariff is a tax on imports or exports. Income tariffs are established with the purpose of collecting moneys for the government. Protectionist tariffs, generally levied on imports, have the purpose of artificially increasing the price of imports to protect national industries from international (more economic) competition.
What is a specific tariff?
A specific tariff is a customs duty or tax calculated as a given sum times the amount of goods entering the country, without consideration for the price of the import; for example, X dollars per pound.
What is the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP)?
This system consists of the granting, by some developed countries, a reduction or total elimination of import rights for certain products exported by developing countries.
If you want a GSP certificate issued for your product in Nicaragua, you may find more information in the following link: http://www.cetrex.com.ni/website/servicios/documentos/sgp.jsp (in Spanish).
Where can I find tariffs for all countries?
You may find these tariffs in our Exporting Portal, under “International Trade”.
Also,we recommend the Hemispheric Database of the Free Trade Area of the Americas, where you may find tariffs sorted by tariff code, product, year, and import and export tariffs of all countries (texts in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish). |
